Finding A Body Wash For Sensitive Skin
Finding a body wash for sensitive skin is something that I know we all struggle with. We want something that smells delicious, of course, that’s not going to upset our skin. We want to avoid red and itchy skin so how do we find the perfect body wash. So many types of body wash include harsh ingredients that will probably irritate your skin and can also lead to bigger problems. Luckily, there is a body wash made for all different types of skin.
If you have particularly dry or more sensitive skin, you don’t want to pick up just any bottle off the shelf. Just because your mother has been begging you to try this new body wash that she has been using doesn’t mean that it will necessarily be the right fit for your skin. Like any other skincare product, your body wash is going to have a list of ingredients found in the bottle, please read up before you invest in your next body wash. It is good to be aware of the ingredients of any product you use, regardless of whether you have sensitive skin or not, but if you have sensitive skin it is especially important to make sure you are aware of what you are about to expose your body to. There are a few ingredients that I want you to be on the lookout for when you make your next run to the drug store in search of body wash for sensitive skin.
Ingredients To Be Wary Of
The first ingredient you should be on the lookout to avoid is parabens. Parabens are a group of chemicals that are often found in popular body washes. Some of the chemicals found in parabens include methylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben. A lot of these chemicals can be very disruptive to your hormone balance in your body because these parabens often mimic estrogen. Another chemical often found in body washes is formaldehyde. Formaldehydes most common use is the preservation of dead animals. This chemical is very strong and has been used to store animal carcasses, something you don’t want to be rubbing on your body. Not to mention, formaldehyde is a carcinogen, something you don’t want to be slathering yourself in. Carcinogens are known to be linked to asthma and neurotoxicity. If you are looking for a body soap for easily irritable skin, this is an ingredient to watch out for.
Two ingredients that are known for irritating skin and are found in most body washes are sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. Both of these ingredients are used to create the foam in body washes, it is how you get that rich lather you always expect when you are washing your body. While we love to be lathered up, and most normal, not so sensitive skin, can handle these ingredients, more sensitive skin cannot. So, depending on how sensitive your skin is, you should be wary of these ingredients when exploring which body wash for sensitive skin is going to work for you.
What To Look For
If you have more sensitive skin that’s probably lacking moisture you are going to want to look for a product that has a deep hydrating power. I never said shopping for body wash for irritable skin was going to be easy. Depending on how sensitive your skin is, I would look for a milder soap as these are the types of products that are going to have fewer chemicals in them. Chemicals and sulfates are what are going to irritate your skin the most, as I’ve explained. Oil-based body washes are going to help hydrate your skin so look at soaps that are made with sunflower, coconut, or olive oil. Another great ingredient to look for in a body wash for sensitive skin is shea butter. Shea butter is extremely hydrating which will help your skin hold onto that moisture. Vitamin E extract is another ingredient you want to be on the lookout for that will help your skin. Vitamin E is a very popular ingredient in a lot of skincare products and will help heal your dry skin.
Now, I know we all still want a body wash that smells yummy that will leave us with a fresh, clean feeling. That is still achievable despite all of the boundaries I just gave you. Try to stick with natural, all organic products as these are the products that will irritate your skin the least. You can’t go wrong with an all-natural product when looking to repair your skin. Today’s market has plenty of soaps for sensitive skin that can work for your skin type. Most of these all-natural products are made with essential oils and products from the earth that will give you that delicious smell while also nourishing your body and skin. Give your body the love it deserves, protects it from harsh chemicals and irritation by finding the best body wash for sensitive skin that is going to work for you.
