Gentle Body Wash

Our Skin Is Sensitive

Some of us have very sensitive skin and finding a gentle body wash that works for us can be stressful and overwhelming. There are so many options in the market place right now, how do we know which is the right one for us? While we may be very cautious about what we use on our faces, we may not pay as much attention to what we are using on our bodies. If you are someone who has easily irritable skin, you have to be wary of what ingredients are in your body soap. Chemically based ingredients can create a flair up in your skin, causing itching and redness. That discomfort is something we all want to avoid. Most importantly, you want to avoid any type of scrub, that roughness will make your sensitive skin even worse.

When shopping for a soft body cleanser, all-natural products are the way to go. Organic products are made with ingredients that were not genetically modified, don’t have any harsh chemicals or are bands, which can be very disruptive to the hormone balance of your body. Another chemical often found in body washes is formaldehyde. Formaldehydes most common use is the preservation of dead animals. This chemical is very strong and has been used to store animal carcasses, something you don’t want to be rubbing on your body. Not to mention, formaldehyde is a carcinogen, something you don’t want to be slathering yourself in.

Check Your Labels

Like any other skincare product, your body wash is going to have a list of ingredients found in the bottle, please read up before you invest in your next body wash. It is good to be aware of the ingredients of any product you use, regardless of whether you have sensitive skin or not. If you have sensitive skin it is especially important to make sure you are aware of what you are about to expose your body to. While a lot of bottles may claim that they are organic, that might not necessarily be the case.

When you are making sure your gentle body wash is truly organic you should be looking for a USDA label. The USDA labels have two different qualifications for products. They either label them “100% organic” or “organic”. The labeling that says just “organic” means that there can be up to 5% synthetic oils and other ingredients found in the product. The “organic” label just means that the product was still made in an attempt to create the most all-natural and effective body lotion they can for consumers, but it’s not completely 100% organic. If you are someone who has easily irritable skin then I would look for products that are 100% organic so you avoid risk of redness, irritation, or even rashes. These are all things to keep in mind when looking for your gentle body wash.

What To Look For

If you have more sensitive skin that’s probably lacking moisture you are going to want to look for a product that has a deep hydrating power. I never said shopping for body wash for irritable skin was going to be easy. Depending on how sensitive your skin is, I would look for a milder soap as these are the types of products that are going to have fewer chemicals in them. Chemicals and sulfates are what are going to irritate your skin the most, as I’ve explained. Oil-based body washes are going to help hydrate your skin so look at soaps that are made with sunflower, coconut, or olive oil. The two-favorite ingredient that I always look for in my gentle body wash is shea butter and Vitamin E. Shea butter is incredibly hydrating and will give your skin the moisture it needs while the Vitamin E helps heal dry patches.

One thing we all want from our gentle body wash is a product that smells delicious and leaves us feeling fresh. Most natural products are made with essential oils which are even more delicious smelling than the perfumes and chemicals they put in other products. You can find products made with lavender, sage, or chamomile. These ingredients give you a fresh smell and a clean feeling. Not to mention, the perfumes used in other body washes can dry your skin out from the alcohol, which can also irritate. Today’s market has plenty of soaps for sensitive skin that can work for your skin type.

Show Your Body Love

While I know it may be easier to just run down to the drug store and buy the first body wash you see, taking the time to do research about which product is best for your skin will be very beneficial in the long run. Give your body the love it deserves by finding a gentle body wash that is going to work for you. All-natural products are good for your body and the environment, and they are going to last a whole lot longer than the generic brands. Nurture your skin and respect the body that does so much for you.
