Everyday Ways to Rewild
Rewilding our world to support, sustain, and balance the ecosystem and energy of the environment can feel overwhelming. It’s easy to forget there are many simple ways to rewild our own lives every single day. For 2017, if we all made even one simple change and stuck to it, our earth would begin to inch closer to the healthy state we all desire. But what are those simple actions? We’ve compiled a list below, along with a reason for pursuing that path to help inspire you.
Take a walking meditation
We’ve all heard about the benefits of meditation. You’ll learn to focus better, stay resilient in the face of stress, and increase your happiness. But why a walking meditation?

Walking meditation is just as good as sitting meditations, and has the same benefits – with one added advantage: Walking allows you to bring that presence of focus and mindfulness as your outdoor environment moves around you. Taking just a 10 minute walk each day can bring years of peace to your life, as well as a deeper connection to the habitats in which we live.

Contact your representatives
We live in a highly contentious time, politically. If you want to make a change for good, you need to take action and be heard, even in small ways. Find out who your political representatives are, and where they stand on rewilding issues like land rights. And if they’re not on the right side of history? Contact their offices and make your case. They’re more inclined to listen to their constituents than you might think. Check out this list to find out who you can call.
Consume consciously
We’re all guilty of buying too much “stuff” from time to time. Fast fashion, fast food, the latest subscription app; it’s easy to get sucked in. But studies have found time and time again that the more you over-consume, the happier you are… not. Skip the latest fast fashion for quality clothing that lasts (and is sustainable, to boot!). Repair what’s broken, and reforge your personal connection to your possessions. Walk through your home and ask, about each object, “what do I have this for?” If you can’t answer it, donate it to someone who can benefit!
Join a worthy cause
CANA Foundation works to rewild our world in many ways. From wild horses, to the habitats they live in, to our own lives, rewilding is a movement that needs your support. If we’re going to lead the assault on land heists, protect our wild horses, and stand with the Water Protectors, we need your help. See how you can join the movement here.
